It calls for an equipment that can spread enormous concentrated weight across dozens of wheels, steer with millimeter precision in tight spaces, and keep the cargo level even when the ground underneath it isn’t.

Available across a 50 to 1,000 ton capacity range, the Haitai hydraulic platform transporter is a heavy-duty multi-axle trailer solution for oversize and overweight cargo handling. Whether transporting a prefabricated building module across a jobsite, loading a transformer onto a barge, or shifting a ship segment within a dry dock, the Haitai transporter is designed to allow cargo—typically requiring cranes, gantries, or custom rigging—to simply roll into position.

What Is Haitai Hydraulic Platform Transporter?

Haitai hydraulic platform transporter is commonly known in the industry as Hydraulic Platform Transporter (HPT). It covers capacities from 50 to 1,000 tons and features a modular multi-axle design, depending on its setup. Every axle line is equipped with its own hydraulic suspension, independent steering, and load-sensing mechanism, and multiple axle lines can be linked to create a unified, continuous deck.

Engineered as a modular, hydraulically towed multi-axle heavy-haul system, the Haitai Hydraulic Platform Transporter is built to transport loads between 50 and 1,000 tons across industrial facilities, ports, shipyards, and construction sites. Its foundation lies in independently steerable axle lines with hydraulic suspension, which evenly spreads concentrated loads over the ground—enabling it to carry cargo beyond the safe handling limits of standard trailers or cranes.

Thanks to its modular structure, axle lines can be connected side-by-side or end-to-end, adjusting both capacity and footprint precisely to suit the load—be it a wind turbine nacelle, a pressure vessel, a precast bridge girder, or an entire ship block. This adaptability defines the transporter: a project requiring 80 tons today may demand 400 tons next year, yet the same axle-line components can usually be reconfigured or expanded instead of necessitating a completely new unit.

HT crane hydraulic platform transporter models’ each unit is factory-assembled, fully load-tested, and CE certifiedready for shipment. They centers on three core objectives critical to heavy-haul operators:

1. Even weight distribution—to prevent overloading either the cargo or the ground at any single point

2. Precise, low-speed maneuverability—to navigate crowded yards, narrow gates, and tight indoor spaces

3. Load stability on uneven surfaces—to keep the deck level and cargo secure even as individual axles traverse bumps, ramps, or inclines

Working Principle of Haitai Hydraulic Platform Transporter

The Haitai hydraulic platform transporter works by converting a single massive, concentrated load into many small, evenly distributed loads spread across dozens of wheels — which is what makes it possible to move cargo that would otherwise crush a normal trailer axle or exceed a crane’s capacity.

1. Load distribution through modular axle lines.

Rather than relying on two or three heavy-duty axles, the transporter spreads the total weight across many axle lines connected in parallel and in series. Each line only bears a fraction of the total load — commonly in the 25–45 ton range per line — which keeps ground pressure and structural stress within safe limits.

2. Hydraulic suspension equalizes pressure automatically.

Every axle is fitted with hydraulic cylinders connected through a shared hydraulic circuit. As the transporter moves over uneven ground, this system continuously adjusts cylinder pressure at each wheel so the load stays level and no single axle is overloaded — similar in principle to how a fluid finds its own level, but actively controlled.

3. Independent, synchronized steering enables precision movement.

Each axle line can steer independently, and the control system synchronizes them so the entire platform can move in a straight line, crab sideways, travel diagonally, or pivot in place — all without changing the orientation of the cargo. This is what allows the transporter to navigate through gates, around obstacles, and into tight assembly bays that a rigid-frame vehicle simply couldn’t enter.

4. Centralized hydraulic and electronic control.

A single operator, typically using a wireless remote control unit, commands the entire platform. The control system continuously monitors axle pressure, steering angle, and deck level, adjusting in real time to keep the cargo stable throughout the move — from pickup, to transit, to precise final positioning.

5. Modular scaling for different tonnages.

Because axle lines couple together both side-by-side and end-to-end, the same basic components can be reconfigured into a smaller platform for a 50-ton load or a much larger one for a 1,000-ton load, without redesigning the system from scratch.

Hydraulic Platform Transporter Features

Wide Load Range (50-1,000 Tons): A single modular platform family covers everything from mid-size industrial equipment to massive infrastructure components, reducing the need for multiple specialized machines.

Even Weight Distribution: Independent hydraulic suspension across all axle lines keeps ground pressure balanced, protecting both the cargo and the surface being traveled on.

Superior Maneuverability: Multi-directional steering (straight, crab, diagonal, pivot) lets the transporter operate in confined shipyards, plant floors, and construction sites where conventional trailers can’t turn.

Modular, Scalable Design: Axle lines can be added, removed, or reconfigured to match project-specific tonnage and dimensions, extending the useful life and versatility of the equipment.

Terrain-Adaptive Stability: Hydraulic self-leveling compensates for uneven ground, ramps, and gradients, keeping sensitive or fragile cargo stable throughout the move.

Centralized, Synchronized Control: A single operator can coordinate every axle line from one control point, improving precision and reducing the crew size needed for complex moves.

High-Strength Structural Frame: Reinforced steel construction is engineered to handle concentrated heavy loads without deformation, supporting long-term reliability under repeated heavy-duty use.

Adjustable Deck Height: Hydraulic lift capability allows the platform to raise or lower cargo for load transfer between different height levels (e.g., onto a barge, foundation, or storage stand).

Application Scenarios of Portable Gantry Crane

Workshop and Manufacturing Facility Maintenance: Permanent overhead crane infrastructure is not always justified for maintenance bays and small production cells. A portable gantry crane fills this gap: it sits in a corner when not needed, rolls to the machine being serviced, and returns to storage in minutes. For facilities with multiple scattered maintenance points, a single portable gantry replaces multiple fixed jib cranes at a fraction of the capital cost.

Construction and Contractor Sites: On construction projects, portable gantry cranes handle pre-cast concrete elements, structural steel sections, HVAC plant, and mechanical equipment at locations where a mobile crane cannot access or where the lift duration does not justify crane hire cost. The crane assembles in under two hours on site, relocates between floors or building zones on its casters, and transports between sites in a standard pickup or van.

Field Service and Offshore Maintenance: Equipment service technicians use Haitai portable gantry cranes for field engine overhauls, pump and motor exchanges, and equipment installation in locations with no fixed lifting infrastructure. The crane’s bolt-together steel frame disassembles into manageable sections — 1t–2t models can be transported and handled by two technicians without additional equipment.

Temporary Production Line Lifting: Production expansions, line reconfigurations, and equipment changeovers often require temporary overhead lifting that would take weeks to install as a permanent system. A portable gantry crane is operational in hours, can be repositioned as the production layout evolves, and relocated or sold when the project concludes — preserving capital rather than converting it to a fixed structural asset.

Shipyard and Marine Maintenance: Portable steel gantry cranes rated 2t–5t are widely used in shipyard dry dock operations, engine room maintenance, and coastal construction where outdoor durability is mandatory. Hot-dip galvanized finish provides long-term corrosion resistance in salt-air environments; stainless steel hardware package is available on request.

Structural Design & Engineering Details

Column and Base Flange

The main column is a structural steel circular hollow section (CHS) manufactured from Q345B plate, rolled and seam-welded to dimensional tolerance. The base flange is a thick-plate machined steel disc full-penetration welded to the column base. Anchor bolt holes are drilled to the foundation drawing pattern. The standard configuration shown in the Haitai engineering drawing uses φ406 mm column OD and φ820 mm base flange — sized for 3t capacity at 3,000 mm working radius. Column height ≤2,600 mm (to jib bottom flange) is the standard range; taller columns require engineering review.

Jib Arm Design

The jib arm (horizontal boom) is a welded box section or I-beam fabricated from Q345B structural steel. The arm connects to the column rotator housing via a flange plate bolted joint, allowing controlled rotation. The hoist trolley runs on the bottom flange of the jib beam. Jib tip deflection under rated load is calculated to remain below L/400 (where L is the jib length) — this limit prevents the trolley from migrating to the tip under gravity, which would create uncontrolled load movement.

Slewing Mechanism

The slewing assembly consists of a slewing ring bearing (external or internal tooth), a helical bevel gearmotor, and a drive pinion engaging the ring gear. The slewing ring carries both the rotation moment and the overturning moment from the jib and suspended load. The drive provides smooth, continuously variable rotation speed with dynamic braking on stop. On 270° models, adjustable mechanical stops and limit switches define the rotation limits and cut power to the slewing motor at the end positions, preventing cable damage.

Application Scenarios of Floor Mounted Jib Cranes

Dedicated Machine-Side Workstation

The most common floor mounted jib crane application: a single crane serves one CNC machining centre, press, injection moulding machine, or welding station. The crane’s working radius covers the machine’s load zone and the adjacent material staging area. The operator controls all motions from a pendant, handling component loading, part rotation, and finished part transfer without leaving the workstation. A single 1t–5t jib crane at each machine station replaces the need for overhead crane time on routine production lifting tasks.

Production Line Transfer Point

At transfer points between production line segments — between a machining cell and a washing station, between a press and an assembly fixture, between a painting booth and a curing oven — a jib crane provides dedicated transfer capacity without blocking overhead crane travel. Multiple jib cranes along a production line allow the overhead bridge crane to be reserved for heavy lifts and maintenance tasks.

Assembly Pit and Turntable Operations

Image 2 shows a Haitai 360° floor mounted jib crane serving an assembly pit with a circular turntable. The crane’s full-rotation capability and centrally positioned column allow the spreader and hoist to follow the turntable’s full arc, placing components precisely at any angular position on the rotating workpiece. This configuration is common in engine assembly, turbine assembly, and large valve production.

Automated Production Line Assistance

Image 3 shows a Haitai jib crane integrated alongside an automated production line in a large manufacturing facility. The jib crane handles component loading and unloading at the automated line’s feed and discharge points — tasks that require precise positioning and frequent short lifts, which floor-mounted jib cranes are optimally designed for. The crane’s compact footprint does not interfere with AGV paths or automated equipment travel zones.

Maintenance Bay and Service Workshop

In maintenance facilities — engine overhaul bays, hydraulic repair workshops, electrical equipment service centres — a floor mounted jib crane provides lifting at the specific service bench or pit position where work is performed. Unlike overhead cranes, the jib crane is available exclusively to the technician at that station, without competing with adjacent bays for crane time. This increases maintenance throughput and reduces wait time significantly in multi-bay facilities.

Floor Mounted Jib Crane Foundation Requirements

The floor mounted jib crane’s column transfers its entire load — vertical (crane and hoist dead weight plus rated load) and horizontal (slewing torque and cantilever overturning moment) — through the base flange to the foundation. The foundation must be designed to the specific crane configuration.

Every Haitai floor mounted jib crane order includes a certified foundation design drawing as a standard deliverable. The drawing specifies: concrete grade (typically C30 minimum), foundation plan dimensions, depth, reinforcement layout, anchor bolt diameter, grade, and embedment depth, and required bolt-down torque. Do not pour foundation concrete before receiving and reviewing the Haitai foundation drawing for your specific crane configuration.

The slewing angle is determined by the installation environment and the physical constraints around the crane’s location. Both configurations use the same column, jib, and hoist hardware; only the slewing drive stop arrangement and control logic differ.

Installation Sequence

Receive and review Haitai foundation drawing; confirm anchor bolt positions with civil engineer

Prepare reinforced concrete foundation to drawing specification; install anchor bolts in template before pour

Allow concrete to cure to specified strength (minimum 28 days for full design strength; 14 days minimum before crane installation)

Lift column assembly onto anchor bolts; check plumb with precision level; install levelling nuts

Tighten anchor bolts to specified torque in cross pattern; grout under base flange

Install jib arm onto column slewing assembly; torque all structural bolts to specification

Install hoist trolley and hoist on jib beam bottom flange

Connect power supply to crane control panel; check cable routing and segregation

Commission all motions — hoist up/down, trolley travel, slewing rotation — confirm limit switches operational

Perform proof load test at 125% SWL; record and retain test certificate

Structural Design: Engineering Details

Truss Boom

The boom (cantilever arm) uses a welded steel truss design, as detailed in this following structure image. The top and bottom chords are structural steel sections (T-section or flat bar); the web members are welded between chords at a defined angle to form the triangulated lattice. This structural form is chosen specifically for long-radius cantilever applications because it achieves much lower tip deflection than a solid beam of equal weight — a critical requirement for maintaining trolley positioning and preventing the hoist from running to the boom tip under its own weight on the down-slope created by deflection.

Wall Bracket and Travel Rail

The wall bracket assembly consists of: an upper mounting plate bolted to the wall with anchor bolts (minimum embedment ≥500 mm per engineering drawing); a lower guide bracket; and the slewing pivot housing. The travel rail — width 1,200 mm (per view A of engineering drawing) — is welded to the bracket and extends along the wall to the limits of the crane’s travel zone.

The bracket is designed to transfer both the vertical load (crane dead weight + rated payload) and the horizontal overturning moment (from the cantilever boom) into the wall anchor system. The wall must be assessed by a qualified structural engineer to confirm it can carry these combined loads — Haitai provides bracket load calculation documents as a standard project deliverable.

Bogie Travel Assembly

The crane travels along the wall rail on a motorized bogie assembly. Per the engineering drawing, the bogie spans 2,000 mm (inner wheel centres), 3,200 mm, and 3,700 mm (outer dimensions). The bogie drive motor moves the complete crane assembly along the wall rail, allowing the operator to reposition the crane’s working zone along the wall. End-of-travel limit switches on the bogie prevent overrun at the ends of the rail.

Slewing Mechanism

The slewing assembly connects the boom to the wall bracket pivot and provides motorized rotation to the specified arc. The slewing drive uses a helical bevel gearmotor engaging a slewing ring gear, with dynamic braking for controlled stop. On 180° and 270° models, adjustable mechanical stops and limit switches define the rotation limits precisely, cutting power to the slewing motor at end positions and preventing cable wind-up on the pendant or festoon cable.

◆ Zero Floor Space — Full Workshop Floor Preserved

◆ Truss-Section Boom — Stiff at Long Radius

The horizontal boom uses a welded steel truss structure (triangulated chord and web members, as shown in the engineering drawing). This form provides significantly higher bending stiffness per kilogram than a solid I-beam or box section at radii above 6 meters — limiting tip deflection and maintaining consistent trolley positioning across the full radius.

◆ A5 Working Grade — Production-Rated Duty

ISO 4301-1 working grade A5 classifies the crane for sustained, regular lifting duty across multiple shifts — a higher classification than most floor-mounted jib cranes (typically A3–A4). All structural components, welds, and mechanical elements are designed and fatigue-rated to A5 cycle life, making this crane appropriate for production-line applications, not just occasional maintenance use.

◆ Multi-Unit Installation on a Single Wall Line

As shown in Images 1 and 2, multiple Haitai wall traveling jib cranes can be installed on a single wall line, each serving a dedicated workstation zone. Each crane travels independently along its own section of wall rail, and slewing arcs can be configured to overlap or remain discrete depending on the production layout. Anti-collision systems prevent adjacent crane contact.

◆ Motor-Driven Slewing with Smooth Start/Stop

Electric slewing drive with reduction gearbox and dynamic braking provides smooth, controlled rotation at low speed under full load. Pendant-controlled slewing eliminates operator effort in rotating the boom, which is critical for long-radius (8–12 m) cranes where manual rotation would be impractical under load.

◆ Variable Slewing Arc: 180° to 360°

The slewing angle is defined by the installation context. 180° is standard for cranes mounted flat against a wall (where the wall prevents rotation past the mounting face). 270° suits corner installations or walls with clearance on one side. 360° full rotation is available where the mounting structure allows. Custom intermediate angles are available on request.

◆ Compatible with Conductor Bar Power Supply

As visible in Image 2, the wall rail assembly integrates an orange conductor bar power track for the hoist and slewing motor supply. This eliminates festoon cable drag along the travel rail, improving reliability and reducing cable wear in high-travel-frequency applications — a standard feature on Haitai wall traveling jib cranes.

Installed Wall Traveling Jib Crane Application Examples

Image 1 — Dual Wall Traveling Jib Cranes, 2 Ton Each, Manufacturing Facility

Image 1 shows two Haitai 2t wall traveling jib cranes installed in parallel on the same structural wall of a large manufacturing facility. Each jib crane is independently motorized for slewing and trolley travel, with separate pendant controls. The yellow-painted truss booms are clearly visible mounted to a shared wall bracket rail system. Conductor bar power supply runs along the wall rail. This multiple jib cranes configuration is a cost-effective alternative to a full overhead bridge crane where coverage of a defined wall-side working zone, rather than the full bay width, is required. Each crane serves its designated production stations independently, without competing for shared crane time.

Image 2 — Multi-Level Wall Jib Crane Array, White Industrial Finish

Image 2 shows a high-specification Haitai installation featuring multiple wall traveling jib cranes at multiple levels in a large-span facility. The cranes are finished in white with orange conductor bars visible along the wall rail — indicating a cleanroom-adjacent or appearance-sensitive industrial environment. The yellow low-headroom wire rope hoists are matched to the available ceiling height. This installation demonstrates the system’s scalability: a single wall line can support multiple independent crane units, each with its own hoist, serving consecutive workstations along the production wall. The conductor bar supply system eliminates cable festoon management across multiple units.

The conductor bar (black, ceiling-mounted) manages the power supply to the hoist along the compact travel range. The boom-wall bracket assembly is compact enough to install in a standard-height room without civil modification. Tool cases and equipment cases are visible on the workbenches below — the crane serves a precision, low-frequency but ergonomically important lifting function.
